Last updated: 2025-07-09 20:22:09

Applicable Scenarios

When your business load changes and you need to adjust instance configurations, you can flexibly modify configurations and adjust capacity through the console. The system will immediately update your resource configuration after fee settlement is completed.

Subscription Config-Upgrade

Pricing Rules

Instance upgrades follow the principle of paying the price difference based on the remaining duration. The calculation formula is as follows:

Upgrade fee = (New configuration price - Original configuration price) × Remaining duration × Applicable discount

Important Notes

  • Billing duration: Calculated by whole hours, less than 1 hour will be charged according to pay-as-you-go standard
  • Applicable discount: Matches current valid discount on official website based on remaining duration
  • Expiration time: Upgrade does not affect resource expiration time
  • Multiple renewal periods: For original configurations with multiple unrenewed periods, calculated as original order price × duration × applicable discount

Billing Example

Take a monthly cloud server as an example, with original configuration of 4 cores 8GB, 20 days remaining usage time, now upgrading to 8 cores 16GB:

Basic Information

  • Original configuration fee: $28/month
  • New configuration fee: $56/month
  • Remaining duration: 20 days
  • Applicable discount: 90%

Fee Calculation

  • New configuration fee calculation: $56/month × (20 days remaining/31 days) × 90% = $32.52
  • Original configuration fee calculation: $28/month × (20 days remaining/31 days) × 90% = $16.26
  • Additional upgrade fee required: $32.52 - $16.26 = $16.26

Result Description

You need to pay $16.26 upgrade fee, and the instance will be immediately upgraded to 8 cores 16GB configuration.

Subscription Config-Downgrade

Pricing Rules

Instance downgrade refund calculation formula:

  • Refund amount = Original configuration refund amount - New configuration purchase fee
  • For original configuration refund amount details, refer to Refund Instructions

Important Notes

  • When refund amount > 0, the corresponding fee will be refunded
  • When refund amount ≤ 0, no refund will be given

Billing Examples

Case 1: Refund After Downgrade

Assume a monthly cloud server with monthly price of $10, purchased for 2 years, enjoying 80% annual discount.

Downgrade Scenario

Downgrade to $5/month after using for 2 months, with 22 months remaining.

Fee Calculation

  • Original configuration refund calculation: Original total fee ($10/month × 24 months × 0.8 discount) - Used fee (2 months × $10) = $172
  • New configuration purchase fee calculation: New monthly price ($5/month) × Remaining duration (22 months) × 0.8 discount = $88
  • Final refund amount: Original configuration refund ($172) - New configuration purchase fee ($88) = $84

Result Description

Since refund amount > 0, system will refund $84 to your account.

Case 2: No Refund After Downgrade

Downgrade to $9/month after using for 23 months, with 1 month remaining.

Fee Calculation

  • Original configuration refund calculation: $10/month × 24 months × 0.8 discount - (12 months × $10 × 0.8 discount + 11 months × $10) = -$14 < 0, refund amount is $0
  • New configuration purchase fee: $9/month × 1 month = $9
  • Refund amount: $0 - $9 = -$9

Since refund amount is less than or equal to 0, no refund will be given.
